The Strategic Perspective is a national consulting firm headquartered in Littleton, Colorado. Our owner and Senior Consultant, Joshua Edelstein has over 15 years of experience, working with companies of all sizes. From NASDAQ-listed technology companies down to single location, retail storefronts, in all different industries.
Business is business but there's usually one specific demographic that every consultant is especially passionate about. For Mr. Edelstein, it's small, successful companies (generally under 100 employees) that for whatever reason, find themselves in a plateau.
This situation is more common than one might think and typically, the better the business owner is at their craft, the higher the likelihood they will one day face this problem.
Mr. Edelstein likes to sum this up with a motto, "Small businesses succeed when the owners are extremely talented at the services they offer. However, once the business grows to a certain point, it often requires advice from a different, outside perspective, coupled with different skills to take it to the next level. This is where I come in."
What is clandestine consulting? No, it doesn't involve three-letter agencies or corporate espionage. Clandestine consulting is rooted in confidentiality from all other businesses and secrecy from staff members if requested.
Sometimes corporate employees may hold back ideas or vital information that could be crucial to the Owner/CEO. This can be for several reasons, but more often than not, it has to do with the zebra theory.
You wouldn't think zebras would be camouflaged from lions, with their white and black coats in the golden savannah. However, when they stick together, a lion can't differentiate a single zebra from a giant cluster of black and white. In other words, it's safer to go with the flow and not stand out than risk being eaten (or in our case, a job loss or workplace flow uprooted).
This results in a team of "yes people" which in turn, adds to the "business as usual" plateau. With clandestine consulting, all employees are on a need-to-know basis set by the client, up to and including a complete lack of knowledge that a consultant has been hired.
